我二姑雖然早過了四十歲，但是還沒有失去那嫵媚的女性天性。她雖
然吃素不問世事，可是非常精明，她的財產恐怕比我家還多。她又喜歡穿
洋裝，特別注意裝飾品的搭配，所以縱然穿的是素色衣裙，但仍然風姿 綽
約。

Wŏ èrgu sueirán zăo guò le sìh shih sùei, Dànshìh hái méi yŏu
shihcyù nà fŭmèi de nyŭsìng tiansìng. Ta suirán chihsù bú wùn shìhshìh,
kĕshìh feicháng jingmíng, ta de cáichăn kŏngpà bĭ wŏ jia hái duo. Ta yòu
sĭhuan chuan yángjhuang, tèbié jhùyì jhuangshìhpĭn de dapèi, sŭoyĭ
zòngrán chuan de shih sùsè yicyún, Dàn réngrán fongzih cuòyue.
English translation：
Although she was over forty, my aunt still exuded a womanly charm.
And though a vegetarian ascetic and not to be bothered by worldly affairs,
she was quite smart in practical matters. So perhaps she owned more properties
than my family. She was used to wearing western dresses and was particular
in choosing matching jewelry. Even whendressed in pale-colored clothes, she
was elegant and graceful.
